Call ahead to book a tour of the homes of E. I. Couse and J. H. Sharp, two of the American-born, European-trained artists who formed the Taos Society of Artists in 1915. *On the first Saturday every October the “Mother Garden” of Taos will be highlighted as volunteers collect seeds and cuttings during the year and share them with community members and visitors. The seed and cuttings giveaway continues a tradition in remembrance of Virginia Walker Couse’s original generosity, which helped establish many Taos gardens.

E.I Couse and J.H Sharp were two of the founders of the Taos Society of Artists who lived on two neighboring properties. The Couse House and gardens, chapel, and both artists' studios are full of art and preserved much as they were left in the 1920s-30s.
