The Haggerston

The jazz jam session held here every Sunday has been running for 21 years. There’s always a heaving mass of people drinking, dancing, and baying the band on until way past midnight. Other nights DJs play everything from disco to post-punk, but Sundays are an institution, known to London musicians who play there as “church. If it’s too hectic downstairs, escape to the little cocktail bar upstairs for a breather. It’s tiny and not obvious—just follow the line of the bar and you’ll see stairs leading up to it.
