The North End of Halifax was destroyed in an explosion 100 years ago. The Fort Needham memorial marks the tragedy and the view point shows the exact location where the ships met that fateful day.

This is a fantastic park to go for a walk with beautiful views of the harbour. It is home to the memorial for the Halifax Explosion and has a playground, tennis courts and lots of green space. It is also a short walk from the Hydrostone Market so if you want to grab a coffee any lay on the grass it is fantastic for that. Despite being right in the middle of the Hydrostone it is up on a hill and surrounded by trees which gives it a secluded feel.

Fort Needham overlooks the point in the harbour where two ships collided, setting off the 1917 Halifax Explosion. A memorial to the victims of the Explosion now defines Fort Needham.
