Memento Park The Communists ruled Hungary from 1949 to 1989 and during that period the city of Budapest was adorned with many patriotic Soviet oriented statues. Statues of Soviet leaders, Soviet symbols and heroic busts could be seen throughout the city.

Providing a glimpse behind the Iron Curtain, Memento Park is one of the most spectacular sights of Budapest. Although it is not downtown, it is a must-see.
