Cool history but even cooler old train cars with vintage advertisements downstairs!

This is a unique museum, built out of a converted subway station, that takes you through the history of public transit (in particular the Subway) in New York City. There are many displays and exhibits, but the showcase area is without doubt the subway platform downstairs where dozens of preserved historic railcars are on display, some dating back well over half a century. In a sense, this museum also tells the history of New York City, as the Subway has been key in growth of the city over the years.

NYC's transit system is the best in the world. Kind of. In some ways.

Fun for kids. Has lots of old train cars and is a great way to spend a couple hours with kids.
