Roughly a half hour drive from the cottage, Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre is a favourite of ours! We take our children here often, they really encourage you to interact with the animals, some of them wander around freely! You can buy food to feed the animals and can go inside the goat enclosures to interact closely with them. It’s a great experience! You can take a picnic with you, they have indoor and outdoor seating. Or you can buy food and drinks from the on site cafe. Open everyday 10:30am - 5:00pm £11.00 per adult £7.50 per child Tea Room and Gift Shop Owl garden - View our extensive selection of owls from all over the world in our peaceful garden setting. Animal Display field - A place to explore and interact with a superb collection of friendly and rare animals including miniature horses, donkeys, pygmy goats, pigs and the smallest sheep breed in the world. Small Animal House - See guinea pigs, rabbits, the Aviary corner with an extensive collection of finches and canaries. Waterfowl Enclosure - Come and see our hoard of ducks, geese, and swans from a raised pond boardwalk which continues through our landscaped enclosure.

31 minutes 18 miles from us" Small Breeds Farm and Owl Centre is a magical place for your family to go and experience the company of many rare and miniature animals, birds and all sorts of owls from all over the world! Kids will be amazed at the variety between differing types of owl, pleased by the cute and cuddly specimens and blown away by Tilly the tortoise who despite being 26 years is still only 3 inches long! During winter months and in very wet weather the animals are displayed undercover which makes it much more comfortable both for them and for you; a lovely touch! Those wanting to get a bit more depth into their visit can try one of the special experiences! The Animal Encounter entails a happy hour of supervised grooming, feeding, walking of a good selection of their creature features. The Owl Experience is 2 hours of intensive care for the owlets (awww!) where you'll monitor egg development, help perfect an environment ready for them plus prepare their food and feed them when they arrive! And finally the Animal Carer experience is a full-on half or full day of mucking in and mucking out! Certainly not for types who don't like to be dirty, this is a genuine behind the scenes experience ideal for older kids who think they'd like to work in the industry.
