Papa Gede's Bar

A friendly neighbourhood spot in the heart of the CBD, Papa Gede’s specialises in serving up voodoo- and rum-inspired drinks and has more absinthe than your average bar. They’ll probably know most people who walk through the door in a day, which is quite unique for a CBD spot. They also have comedy shows once a month, which are quite fun. They have a board of drinks, mostly classic cocktails, that you must ‘try before you die’. You’d have to be a regular, but I insist on getting through all of them. I’d start with the mai tai. The owners have a rich history in rum-based bars, so they make one of the best mai tais around.
