This quaint ranch-style town might surprise you. While most people think of beaches in Hawaii, Waimea is a lush, often wet, mountainous ranching town nestled between the slopes of Kohala and Mauna Kea. Parker Ranch Museum will shed some light on the unique ranching history of Hawaii.
Home to the Hawaiian Paneole or wranglers this is now famous for its farmers market and Parker Ranch center. Great stop on your way to Waipaio Valley. The local brew pub “Big Island Brew Pub” makes an incredible burger.
Waimea, (Kamuela) located about 15 miles from Kulalani has some shopping, banks. restaurants, hair dresser, veterinarian,s, Parker Ranch, eateries, Churches, small shops, and food court.
Town at 3,000 feet elevation. Stunning views looking down on Kohala Coast. Rolling green grassy hills as far as you can see. Must visit restaurant for their beer and fish bites: Big Island Bruhaus.
This is a great little city that is about an hour from Kona, with a lot of places to shop and eat.
