Built in part by members of the Fernald family, Abenaki Tower is a brief uphill walk from the Lodge and offers unparalleled views of the entire Lakes Region.
Located in the Wawbeek Shores section of Tuftonboro, New Hampshire, this tower sits on Abenaki Hill and overlooks the east shore of Lake Winnipesaukee. Don’t miss this aerial view!!
Super easy 10-20 min hike, perfect for little kids, which brings you to the fire tower which you can climb and enjoy a great view. (We like to pack a snack and enjoy the views.)
Free! Abenaki Tower is said to be built at the junction of several old Abenaki Indian Trails. A brief five to ten minute hike from the gravel parking area brings you to a clearing where you can climb the towers stairs for a gorgeous panoramic view of Winnipesaukee and the surrounding mountains. Peaceful and tranquil, it's a great place for kids and adults alike. bring a picnic lunch to enjoy! Caution: the entrance to the free parking area is located on the corner of a sharp curve along Hwy 109, it's easy to miss, especially if you are heading westbound). The parking lot has signage. If Google maps brings you to the wrong place just head about 2 miles north and you will find it.
