The ancient medieval fortress and prison, site of some remarkable medieval royal architecture and the scene of Marie Antoinette's imprisonment in the period leading to her execution in 1793.

I highly recommand a guided tour of this ancient prison at the heart of Paris. Especially if you're interested in la Révolution française. You can pay a visit tout la Sainte-Chapelle just nearby. Stunning stained-glass windows.
