The Joshua Tree park entrance in Yucca Valley with hiking trails but no car access to the park.
Black Rock Canyon is a little known part of the National Park that has no entrance fee, no line and far fewer visitors than the main West entrance. It has great trails that take you through dense groves of Joshua Trees. During a rare snowfall, you have a much better chance of seeing snow covered Joshua Trees here than in the main park since it is a higher elevation.
