One of the entrances is within walking distance from our cottage and takes you by the two larger ponds of Penner Pond. Look for the sign on FR74.

The Florida Trail is one of eleven National Scenic Trails in the United States. It currently runs 1,000 miles (1,600 km), with 300 miles (480 km) planned, from Big Cypress National Preserve (between Miami and Naples , Florida along the Tamiami Trail ) to Fort Pickens at Gulf Islands National Seashore , Pensacola Beach. There are MANY legs of this trail to explore throughout the forest. If you have 2 cars, consider parking one at the end, for a one way trip.
