Managed by Essex Wildlife Trust, The Naze is a geological site of special scientific interest. My kids really enjoy The Naze Fossil Sculpture Trail and we always have to pat the stone shark!

The reserve's dense scrub provides cover for numerous animal species and the location acts as an important landfall for some of the rarer migrating birds. The cliffs at Walton-on-the-Naze form one of the finest geological sites in Britain and are a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). At the base of the cliffs is London Clay which is 54 million years old, overlaid with a sandy deposit called Red Crag (2 Million years old). Some seals love the vintage beach & have often been spotted lazing in the sunshine.
