The Weaverville Joss House, a Taoist temple, is the oldest continuously used Chinese temple in the state. On display are art objects, pictures, mining tools, and weapons used in the 1854 Tong War.

An important part of Trinity County history, the presence of the Chinese during the Gold Rush. Having been released from building the railroad across the nation, they had no social or legal status, had no means to return to China, and settled in Trinity County to mine for gold. This Taoist temple was built by the Chinese and donated to the California State Parks by the Moon Lee family in the 1950's. The name given to the temple is Won Lim Mao, Temple Among the Trees Beneath the Clouds, still in use. (I worked there as a college student during the summer in 1970.)
