  • Emma’s place is just as described - lovely and clean, modern space. Check-in was so simple, perfect as I was arriving late in the evening, and the fridge is stocked with a few essentials to make the morning that bit easier! Great quiet location, comfy bed, and they had left some helpful info about local attractions and amenities. Would definitely recommend, and stay again if I’m in the area. Thank you!

  • This place was very cute and clean. Had everything we needed and so simple to check-in and come and go. We loved it.

    Joanna2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place. The bungalow was very well thought-out and tastefully furnished. There was a good selection of make your own breakfast things (cereal, toast, eggs, etc.) and plenty of equipment in the kitchen if we had wanted to be more adventurous. If you’re looking for a base in Derbyshire then we heartily recommend.

  • Emma's Bijou Bungalow was exceedingly well appointed and comfy - perfect for our trip to see friends and family in Derbyshire. The place was spotless when we got there and Emma went out of her way to make us comfortable and welcome. Everything we needed for breakfast was there when we arrived and the cottage was equipped with all you could possibly need. She was a really thoughtful, helpful host and we look forward to returning in the future.

The Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site is well worth exploring locally and the Peak District is an easy drive away.
  • Jennie and Dirk are friendly and thoughtful hosts, and went the extra mile to ensure we had a lovely experience staying with them. The place was characterful and we appreciated the special touches such as the fresh garden flowers dotted around the property, and the fantastic selection of food left for breakfast. As a young family of 4, we were well accommodated for, and the children really enjoyed it too. Many thanks Jennie and Dirk!

    Clare2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the Annexe was a treat from the moment we arrived. Jennie was a wonderful host who really had gone the extra mile. The place was well presented, clean and had all the facilities one would need. A bottle of wine was left for us in the fridge alongside some breakfast items which we were very grateful for. We were in town for a wedding and it met our expecatations and more. We would definitely consider staying here again.

    Ryan2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Annexe is very well equipped and in a good location. Jennie always responded very quickly which made communication easy.

    Pat2019-09-01T00:00:00Z

    Nicola2019-09-17T00:00:00Z

    Stacy2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hosts and a lovely cottage. We will visit again for longer.

    Caroline2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a well situated little place with buckets of happy to offer! The hosts are fabulous and extremely helpful and accommodating. We stayed for 2 nights and visited several local National Trust properties and the Peak District National parks. Jennie and Dirk offer up a lot of little touches that makes staying here a real pleasure. We were spoiled with wine and cookies as well as anything else we could have possibly needed. The garden is beautiful and the annex a real quiet retreat in such a central location. Well worth booking and definitely value for money... no doubt we will return.

  • Amy's house is extremely stylish, super clean and was perfect for our break in Derbyshire. It had everything we needed and is in a great location. We would definitley use Amy's house again for future visits.

    Lynn2018-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little house which is beautifully furnished - everything is new and sparkly. It's right in the centre of town but is so quiet and has off road parking and a private, sun-trap garden. It was perfect for a couple of do-nothing kind of days away.

    Rachel2018-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amy’s place really sets the bar for AirBnb. It is the nicest we have ever stayed in. Everything is just as described. Exceptional standard of cleanliness, stylish and lots of little touches to make you feel welcome (including a beautiful locally baked loaf). I would recommend staying here to anyone- thanks Amy.

    Erica2018-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amy's place is a very clean and well equipped cottage which is perfect for 2 or 3 travellers. The cottage is in a central location of the town with easy access to amenities. There are some good pubs in the town including the Railway next door which has a good quiz night on a Wednesday.

A delightful grade II listed cottage situated on the A6 in the village of Milford. The cottage is perfect for a get-away, The village has good pubs and restaurants and is only a short drive in to the Town of Belper and Derby City or why not make use of the fantastic public transport links to explore the Peak District.
Our Cottage is Grade II listed and retains many of the original features but also has the benefit of modern comfy furniture and smart TV and WiF.
With-in the Neighbourhood there a 2 good pubs the King William in Milford and the famous Holly Bush just 10 mins walk away in Makeney. There is also a 2 restaurants The New Inn serving traditional pub food and some more A-Le-Cart style dishes and the SOI on the wirer an International buffet style restaurant. There are plenty of walks through the countryside to explore.
  • A lovely little cottage which would suit one or two people visiting this area. A local bus service stops outside and there are lots of places nearby to visit- we particularly enjoyed Matlock Bath and Keddleston Hall. The cottage looked like it has been recently renovated, but retains its low doorways, beams and exposed stonework- you have to watch your head but it gives it character! We parked our car just down the road near the church, a mere couple of minutes walk away. The two charming pubs nearby were great for evening drinks and we ate at the White Hart in Duffield, which was really nice.

    Stuart2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated house but great shame that the wood burning stove does not work. The extremely low door frames and stairs caused considerable inconvenience and we were unaware of this as there was no mention of them in the description. Lots of road noise and the bus stop directly outside the house were a disappointment and inconvenience. The bathroom leaks into the kitchen.

  • Second time visiting and staying in Alisons place. As always Alison has been a wonderful host, very helpful and communicative and the flat is lovely. Would highly recommend and visit again some day.

    Grace2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was an utterly gorgeous flat. In a prime location, with several quirks that made the stay just so enjoyable. I loved the stairs being hidden behind a door, and the candles that switch on by twisting. The venue was amazing, and all the advice given by the host was perfect. Simply wonderful. 5 stars

  • A very nice appartment and a nice host

    Annika2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space (cute beams on the ceiling, sweet wooden doors, gorgeously done kitchen and bathroom, great sense of design), convenient for Peak District walks, with nearby free car parking. Alison was quick to respond to inquiries and met me to check in. The heart of town is on your doorstep. Recommend Fresh Basil (just off the high street), Birds bakery, the two micro pubs, George's fish and chips and the Devonshire pub.

    John2019-06-10T00:00:00Z

The apartment has everything you need, and the kitchen is very well equipped! Very stylish and modern through out. Alison was a great host, very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again!

    Bethany2019-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn't have asked for more from this stay. I stay in many hotels with work and what I look for when using Airbnb is that "home from home" feeling to a place, having my own space to cook (I enjoy it) and not to be living, eating, showering and working in pretty much the same four walls. I can't recommend this location enough. Alison has clearly taken a time and effort to create a clean, comfortable and homely environment. There are modern touches for those that like the digital creature comforts and you couldn't ask to be more centrally located to the amenities. Information on the nearby eateries, should you need it, has been provided and all aspects of the furniture and fittings have a quality feel about them. Alison herself was kind enough to meet me and show me round, given the humid weather on the day I was also very touched that a fan was bought over as a little extra and made use of it. I'd say it was the kind of stay you always hope to have, effortless and enjoyable. Thank you again Alison.

  • Lovely little cottage in Belper. Plenty of places to eat and get a drink within walking distance. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay and was spotlessly clean on arrival. Great communication from Barry and easy check in. Close to some lovely walks, we did the high peaks trail and visited Lumsdale falls. Will be looking to return.

  • We had a really great stay at Frith cottage. The location was perfect for us with family just down the road and the Peak District so close by. The house itself was great for our little family. My son lived his spacr in the attic. We have everything we needed. Couldn't have asked for more 😊 Belper is a lovely town with shops and pubs and restaurants on the doorstep. We had a night at the Ritz, which was lovely. Would love to stay again!

  • We had a great stay in Barry's cottage. He gave very clear instructions for arriving and accessing the cottage. It is very homely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a great base for walking in the Peak District and we enjoyed visiting the nearby pubs and restaurants, or sitting in the lovely garden in the evenings. Parking is busy, but we always found somewhere within a minute or two walk, so no problem at all. Would highly recommend.

    Sarah2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was what we expected and communication with Barry was excellent, we even enjoyed at BBQ on New Year's Day 2019. Great location for walks and lovely shops to explore.

Chapel Mews is one half of a Grade II listed former chapel with great views over the surrounding countryside. It has a large open plan living/dining room and kitchen with antique table and comfortable sofas. 2 good sized double/twin bedrooms. Belper town centre with shops, restaurants, pubs and a cinema is within walking distance. Easy access to all areas of Derbyshire/Peaks. Very good WI-FI.
Our 2 double bedroomed, grade 2 listed former chapel makes for a lovely stay in the historic Derbyshire mill town of Belper which has great amenities and transport links to The Derbyshire Peak District. We have furnished with a mix of vintage and modern pieces and a few cosy touches to make you feel at home. The ground floor is a spacious, open plan space with tall 3m high ceilings that you might expect from an old chapel. The kitchen is very well equipped with a range cooker, microwave and dishwasher and plenty of crockery and utensils. There is also a coffee machine and we provide free tea and coffee. There are plenty of books, a few games and a smart TV to entertain you during your stay. We also have Wi-Fi with a very good signal. The open staircase that leads from the rear of the ground floor has a big window that offers great views and there is a galleried landing at the top. Upstairs the large master bedroom has a super king size bed that can be split into 2 singles (just let us know if you need it making up as single beds). The second bedroom has a comfortable standard size double bed and benefits from views over the surrounding countryside. Both bedrooms are big enough to accommodate an infants travel cot which we can provide on request. There is a double sofa bed in the living room for which we provide bed linen on request or for bookings of 5 or more. There is one family bathroom with the shower over the bath. The shower has good pressure and is on a hose so can be lowered for those who don't want to wash their hair every day! Outside, there is a small decking area at the front of the house with garden furniture so you will be able to sit outside with your morning coffee or a nice cup of tea and maybe a old beer or glass of wine in the evening. Free on-road parking is directly outside the front of the chapel and there is space for more than one vehicle within a few metres with no parking restrictions. If you travel by public transport Belper train Station and the main bus depot are less than a mile away. We send out further information on local restaurants and places of interest when your booking is confirmed and are always happy to help with any special requests. There are books and maps with plenty of Derbyshire walks in the chapel when you arrive. The Wi-Fi signal s also very good for you to research the area further.
Belper is a lovely historic Derbyshire mill town and the chapel is only a 10-15 minute (uphill) walk from the town centre which offers independent shops, restaurants, pubs and the art deco style Ritz cinema. The river gardens with play area is also popular with all ages. There are lots of places of interest and things to do locally which makes this a great base to explore Derbyshire from.
  • Great property in a lovely part of the world. Very clean and homely. Felt really comfortable there.

  • I would highly recommend this place, the interior is really light and comfortable. It has been beautifully furnished with lovely lighting in particular. The chapel was well equipped and there was nothing we wanted for when it came to the kitchen. The beds were really comfortable so we all slept well! The chapel is within walking distance from the town centre so great for us to be able to have a wander and a meal. It was just the right place for three, child free mums, to catch up and relax!

This is a small, modern, detached house with a conservatory and small garden. It takes 10-15 mins to walk into the centre of town where there is a railway station with trains to Derby and Matlock. Buses connect to Derby, Manchester, the Peak District and Nottingham. It is a quiet residential area but the town centre has pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and local businesses. The leisure centre is 10 mins walk. The town is World Heritage listed, being famous during the Industrial Revolution.
Small comfortable modern house with pleasant garden and conservatory for relaxing in. Single bedroom with additional bed stored under when not in use. Desk and chair for work - great views over Belper to distract you though! Tea and coffee making facilities, and access to kitchen for snacks. TV and DVD player in the living room and you are welcome to join us in the evenings.
Quiet residential area with occasional traffic. Great views over the outskirts of town, and everywhere in town is hilly! 5 mins by car or 10-15 mins walk to the town (using shortcuts!). Nearby pubs and leisure centre, parks and places to walk.
  • My first Airbnb stay. Can certainly recommend staying here - Jan and Fred were very welcoming, friendly and great to chat to. Very comfortable room, and a generous breakfast. Spotlessly clean. I couldn’t stay long in Belper, just a night - but for anyone staying longer, there is plenty of information to help make the most of the area. Thank you both!

    Jon2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Welcoming and friendly hospitality. Lovely homely atmosphere, relaxing. House is clean, light and airy. Warm and comfortable bedroom. Lovely breakfast and cups of tea as required. Great to chat to hosts with a good range of general subjects. Highly recommended.

  • Stayed with Jan and Fred many times, great place to stay with great hosts

    Richard2018-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jan and Fred were very welcoming and accommodating. They were happy to share their knowledge about the town's history and surrounding area. Lovely, cozy home with a great view. The breakfast was scrumptious! They were very kind to show us around the Belper Unitarian Chapel. If we ever return to Belper, we would like to stay with them again!

    Megan2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication before staying with Jan and Fred at their home. What a really friendly welcoming with coffee and cakes on check in. Very accomadating, really appreciated being able to iron a shirt and enjoyed learning about some of the history behind robin hood after visiting Sherwood Forest for the robin hood festival. Would definetly recommend staying with this lovely couple.

    Lynne2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • I had another comfortable and pleasant stay with Jan and her husband. The room is perfect for what I needed, and I would definitely stay again.

    Sarah2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay, a really lovely welcome, all is exactly as described. I'd highly recommend staying here, whether visiting relatives as I was, exploring the gorgeous countryside and heritage of this fascinating area, on business, whatever. Thank you again Jan and Fred for making me feel instantly at home on this, my third, visit.

    Nichola2019-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely people to stay with, they are kind and welcoming and served a lovely breakfast to start the day. If I got the chance I would definitely stay again.

Situated in the beautiful Derbyshire town of Belper this is an historic house dating from the 1750s, set in a quiet lane by the river and a short flat walk into Belper town centre where there are many pubs, restaurants and amenities. There is easy access - by car, train and bus - to the Derwent Valley UNESCO World Heritage area and the Peak District, and the local cities of Derby and Nottingham, nearby towns/villages and there are many walks from the house door into the glorious countryside.
I live in a big house full of character but with modern facilities, big rooms and lots of light. The bedroom is within the main home and uses a shared entrance. The window looks out over the tiled patio and private garden. The bedroom has a double bed, tea & coffee making facilities, a wardrobe, shelving and bedside tables. If required, there is use of a desk and chair for working and using a laptop in the sitting room, for which there is plenty of space and light. The large contemporary bathroom is next to your bedroom - it includes a fabulous big shower and large separate bath. Breakfast includes tea, coffee, cereal, toast, preserves, milk, fruit, etc. I am pleased to cater for any dietary requirements. Guests can have breakfast in the sitting room (where there is also a television) or garden. The garden is in three parts with a tiled patio (a sun trap for the evenings after a day out or a day at work), a lawned area and a gravelled area leading to the water's edge. There is a summerhouse, trees, and the garden is full of plants and flowers. The house has free off street parking. This home is suitable for the B&B-er coming for a short stay but also for business people wanting short or long term accommodation as it has very easy links north to surrounding smaller towns, and south to Derby. For regular or long term stays I am open to discuss terms and prices - please message me.
Belper is a thriving, attractive and interesting ex-mill town. Throughout the year there are many festivals, and a monthly farmer's market. The industrial heritage of the town centres around the mills and workers houses of the Strutt family who developed the first iron-framed 'fire-proof' building in the world - the North Mill, which is one of the oldest surviving examples. The River Gardens are opposite my home on the other side of the river and full of plants and colour. This is a lovely place for a quiet, flat walk. There are also free concerts here every Sunday afternoon in the band-stand during summer. There are 68 places to eat and drink in Belper! This includes many pubs and bars which also serve food, many cafes which open from breakfast to late afternoon, many restaurants, delicatessens, a Co-op grocery store, and big stores of Aldi, Morrisons and B&M. There are many shops - from charity shops and well-known high street names, to a factory outlet in an old mill, an antiques centre in another mill, to individual boutiques selling clothes and speciality food. The Ritz cinema is a privately owned cinema showing current films in cosy seating, with mugs of tea/coffee, bottles of wine and cake on offer. There are also hairdressers, pharmacies, banks. I have lived in this area on and off all my life. I know the area well and would be delighted to advise on things to do in the local area and further afield into the Peak District and Derbyshire.
  • Our stay at Jackie's beautiful home was perfect, she is a very attentive host and clearly genuinely cares about her guests, the house is gorgeous in a beautiful location. The spot at the bottom of the garden by the river is so picturesque and we spent most of the evening down there. Hugely reccomend staying here, Jackie will make you feel so at home!

    Sally2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Just how you would expect an Airbnb / B&B to be: clean, comfortable, friendly and easy going host. The added bonus here is the location which was just out of town along a quiet lane by the river. Would certainly stay again when visiting.

    Paul2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay, Jackie had source of local knowledge & very accommodating.

No18 is a unique, welcoming home-from-home nestled in the heart of historic Belper with views of Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The house is ideally situated, only five minutes from the train station and the town centre with its popular high street. No 18 has been carefully renovated, using second-hand furniture and materials wherever possible and featuring work by local artists. All items in the house are for sale, so guests can take a souvenir home with them should they wish to!
In case it's not clear from the listing, we are committed to fair pricing and we charge a fixed nightly rate, which remains the same all year round. This means there is no confusing price structure to understand and those wanting to go away during the school holidays are not unfairly penalised. We're also committed to using second hand/repaired items wherever possible. This has created what we hope is a unique, contemporary & homely environment, with a strong design element. We support local artists by featuring their work on the walls and we believe in giving things a second chance that others might throw away. For example we fitted the kitchen units with old car door handles from the 1950s and the king-size bed in the loft was made by Tony from an old pine door and some timber left over from the loft conversion.
Our neighbourhhood is called 'The Clusters' and was built by Jedidiah Strutt for workers in the historic mills that still remain in Belper and form part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. George Street is one of three streets named after the Strutt sons and still retains a strong sense of community & historic charm. Our neighbours are friendly and always take the time to say hello. We kindly ask that guests respect our neighbours and that noise is kept to an acceptable level at night.
  • Wonderful place. Great walkable town.

  • A really inspirational and artful property. So comfortable and quirky with the most hospitable hosts. Everything we needed and more. A great location to explore the area from, tucked away yet a short walk into town. The local shops and cinema were a delight.

  • Rowen & Tony’s place is stunning; really cosy and fun to be in. We had a great time relaxing, exploring the local area and further afield. Always in the knowledge that we had the best base to return to each night. In just 3 nights we played lots of family games, enjoyed quiet time, listened to music and cooked family meals, enjoyed evening sun in the garden and ate al fresco... in early April.

  • Tucked up between the north end of Chevin golf club and some gorgeous Debyshire countryside, this is a lovely quiet, tranquil spot to unwind and relax. Ideal base for walkers and nature lovers. The barn conversion is quirky but very comfortable and contains all the essential household equipment one could need. Highly recommended.

  • Long Barn is a wonderful, secluded and charming spot, centrally located in Derbyshire. It has everything you need to make your vacation feel like a home away from home. Anita was very accommodating and went above and beyond to make my family feel welcome. Can't wait to stay here again!

    James2019-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing time spent in a great setting. Anita was lovely and welcoming upon arrival. She lives across the courtyard and is available day and night should you need. We didn't! but felt that nothing would be a problem. The barn is comfortable and tastefully decorated with a good standard of furnishings. If we're in the area again there's no question we'd be back.

    Richard2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at the Long Barn with my partner and our 2 young children age 5 and 8. The place was very comfortable and full of natural light from the many sky lights. The beds were comfortable and it is as it looks in the photos. We very much enjoyed our stay at the barn the views of the countryside are lovely. I would love to go back in the Spring and enjoy sitting out and enjoying the view. Although I didn't meet Anita she was very helpful with text messages and getting back to me straight away. The kids also enjoyed the barn, there is a bathtub with jets and the barn is quite spacious for them to play happily :) We also walked around the grounds in the rain which although bracing was lovely to be right in the countryside :)

Mill cottage built in 1795 in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site. Pubs, restaurants, country walks and the train station within walking distance. A perfect place to have a relaxing break. Feel like you've stepped back in time. No need for a car due to its easy accessibility. Great individual shops. Easy access to Chatsworth,Matlock, Bakewell,Gullivers World and Alton Towers.
This beautiful cottage has 3 floors and really is a home from home. There are traditional fireplaces and wooden beams so you really feel like you have stepped back in time. The lounge has a wood burner making it a cosy place to relax. There is a TV, DVD player, iPod player and a selection of DVD's and boardgames. There is a separate dining area and a fully equipped kitchen containing a gas hob and electric oven, microwave, toaster, toasted sandwich maker, bread maker and plenty of pans, cutlery and local Denby crockery. There are also flasks available to take on your country walks. Tea , coffee and biscuits are available and a carton of longlife milk so you can get the kettle on as soon as you arrive. The large bathroom on the first floor has a long bath with an overhead shower. There is an electric macerator toilet and therefore care must be taken to only put toilet paper in it otherwise it will break and there will be a charge to repair it. There is also a toilet downstairs in the out house area. The bedrooms are large situated on the first and second floors. Both have a double bed and there are 2 additional full size double Aerobeds available that can be put in each room on request and at an additional cost. There is also a travel cot available however bedding is not provided. Both bedrooms have a radio and one bedroom has a small TV. Information leaflets are available to plan your activities and make the most of all that there is to do in the local area. There are reading books as well as walking books and maps so you can fully explore the area. A washing machine is also available should need to wash any muddy clothes after a country ramble. There is full use of the garden and plenty of garden furniture so that alfresco dining can be enjoyed. WiFi is available.
Belper is a beautiful, friendly town with many independent shops such as an artisian bakery and a fabulous deli / cafe called Fresh Basil that I recommend for breakfast. There are a number of pubs within walking distance including the George and Dragon that has live music on a Friday and Saturday night. There are a great range of restaurants - Chinese, Thai, Italian, Indian, Tapas, carvery and numerous tea rooms. Belper also has the lovely independent Ritz cinema ( I recommend booking this in advance if you want to go - its worth it). There is local park with a childrens play area and row boat hire is available in the summer. The Peak district is on your doorstep, close to Chatsworth, Matlock, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Castleton where the famous Blue John Caves are making it a good base for walkers cyclists caving and rock climbing or if you are visiting Alton Towers. The Matlock Light Show in the Autumn is a short train journey from Belper. It may also be of interest if you have a business trip in Derby but don't want to stay in the city or working at Glowworm/Valliant or D S Smith that are close by.

A quirky newly refurbished property set in the heart of Belper in Derbyshire, this is a great base for anyone wishing to stay on the edge of the peak district. "The Loft" is close to all local amenities such as shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants all within walking distance. we are situated within a 5 minute walk to the local train station and are on the main route for public transport.
  • The loft is a beautiful place to stay, small walk to the town with pubs ,restaurants and shops. Beautifully decorated , very clean and homely! Sarah is a wonderful host who messaged through-out my stay to check all was ok! Thank you, and I look forward to returning again!

    Paige2019-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn’t have had a better stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Sarah’s lovely apartment. The appartment was spotlessly clean and had all the facilities we needed for a great weekend. Sarah couldn’t have been more helpful, and shared some great tips for local restaurants. We would be back in a heartbeat.

    Sam2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and comfortable little house in two levels. Compact but smartly organized and all you need is provided for. Very clean. Whole house is newly decorated and well done. Set in a peaceful neighbourhood on walking distance from town centre. Good starting point to visit Peak District. 15min drive. Second bed is a comfortable sofabed. Two levels are open. This and the stairs make it les less suitable for families with toddlers.

    Carl2017-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • We just returned for an extremely relaxing and enjoyable trip to the lovely Belper. The Loft is located on a nice quiet street very close to the town centre. Well located to explore the Peak District, as well as being close enough (20 mins drive) to Derby. Plenty of restaurants locally, within a 10 mile radius. Very well decorated interior - all finished to an extremely high standard. I have to say that it was a shame that we only had so many days there. Everything you need is all in The Loft and had a very cosy feel to it. When we booked we immediately got a message from the lovely Sarah. And although she was away enjoying, probably, a well deserved break, she was excellent at communicating with us and responding to any of our questions. A lot of information was provided before and even during our stay at The Loft. We would definitely be recommending it to friends and family and will surely be back again to visit.

  • Sarah's place was fabulous we had a great time there and she was a fabulous host. Would highly recommend to all. Thank you Sarah

  • The Loft is a beautiful, quaint, comfortable place to stay. The decor is gorgeous and it had everything we needed. Sarah was a great host, greeting us on our arrival and leaving a lovely bottle of wine for me and chocolates for the kids. It would best suit a couple, although I stayed there with my 3 kids and dog and it was perfect for a couple of nights. No off road parking however the pub across the road had a carpark that we were able to use. Would definitely recommend, and I am hoping to stay again in the future x

    Joanna2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Enter into an adorable and cosy stay at the Loft. Relax in front of a log fire whilst watching TV and drinking the complimentary wine! All equipment from radiators to kettles were clean ans top of the range! An ideal get away for a couple seeking a stay near the country side.

    Samuel2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Loft is a beautiful little space: perfect size for two people (and a dog) but would be very tight for four. Belper is a lovely little place, within easy reach of the Peaks. The Loft is gorgeously designed, very modern and cozy. Sarah is a wonderful host and responded quickly to our constant questions. Highly recommended and we will be back!

This spacious cottage is a great place to hang out, explore historic Belper on foot and visit Derbyshire's many attractions.
The cottage overlooks the river gardens and is very close to the 18c water mill and river walks. Within 200 m there are two excellent restaurants (17 & 18c) and many more beyond. The cottage has 2 large living rooms (4m x 4m) one with a log burner adjacent to the kitchen and a lounge/dining room with the TV/DVD. There are two large double bedrooms tastefully furnished with 2 double beds and an additional single bed if required.
Just a short walk away is the river gardens and the 18c water mill, part of the Derwent valley world heritage region.

  • Anna’s cottage is a modern semi in a quiet cul de sac on the edge of Belper. She is a generous and helpful host and you have full use of her home which is stylish and comfortable. Nice shower and bath, comfortable bed, huge tv and nice views across valley to rear. All you need for a home away from home.

  • Anna is a great host. I was in Belper for a wedding and needed somewhere last minute. Anna agreed to meet me early to make my life easier. Quick and easy check in. Lovely place with lots of amenities. Pictures representative. Thanks for a great stay.

  • This cottage was absolutely stunning! We are a family of 4 and all of us loved it so much, we've booked to come back! Best value for money we've experienced so far. Bedding was incredibly comfy, the kitchen gorgeous with everything we needed - and more. It was spotless too! Location was beautiful and only a short walk to gorgeous shops and Derbyshire countryside. I would highly recommend this property (and already have!) We were so jet-lagged when we arrived, the beautiful touches made us feel so welcome from the get-go. Thank you Michael!!

    Sadie2019-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely spacious cottage. We were a family of 5 adults and there was enough space for all of us. Rooms were all of a good size and the property is in a great location. Go one way and you have a lovely walk down to the town, go the other and you are then in glorious countryside. The garden area is lovely and I would imagine is a sun trap in the summer. Communications from Michael were excellent and their flexibility on arrangements was greatly appreciated. Can't fault this accommodation.

This charming, 2 bedroomed Grade II listed stone cottage was built around 1815 by the owner of the local mills to house his workers. Enjoying a quiet, elevated position with fabulous views overlooking the Derwent Valley, this characterful cottage with many original features is located within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site and a local conservation area. Milford is an ideal base for walking and touring the Peak District and other local attractions.
A cosy cottage with stunning views and a home from home feel.
Milford was once a quiet hamlet in a part of the large deer forest that spread from Duffield to Wirksworth, until Jedediah Strutt set up a water powered cotton mill here and built housing for his workforce. Some of the housing still remains in Hopping Hill but much of the mill building was demolished between 1952 and 1964, including the cruciform warehouse of 1793, the second of Strutt's fire proof buildings with brick arch floors, timber beams and iron pillars. The bridge, with its two segmental arches was built around 1790 but widened in 1906 and is still carrying heavy traffic. The area is part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The village is situated in the Derwent Valley between Duffield and Belper with the A6 running through its centre. There are a few local public houses within walking distance and an Italian restaurant in Milford plus a village store/coffee shop. Local information can also be found at www.milford-makeney.org/

Milford historic village is a great destination choice! The Garden Apartment is a cosy retreat in a country cottage with private garden and scenic views across the valley. Perfect for visiting Derbyshire's Peak District National Park, our many National Trust and historic houses, and handy too for the city of Derby. Good pubs, restaurants and shops in the area. Longer stays are discounted... Please enquire for more information as we'd like to welcome you!
The Apartment is part of our 18th century cottage and enjoys panoramic views across the river valley and historic Milford village. Our stone-built cottage in Derbyshire's Peak District is Grade II listed and situated midway along the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site - the Valley that changed the World! [Its nomination by UNESCO was in recognition of the area's particular architecture and its distinctive landscape.]
The village is well provided with pubs and restaurants. The town of Belper [1 mile away] won the Nation's 'Best High Street' for its variety of shops and facilities. Country walks start from your door, with good public transport links for travelling further afield in the Peak District. Local buses run every 15 minutes and the Trans Peak service from Derby to Buxton is hourly. Ashbourne and Dovedale are a short drive and worth a trip to see the famous sights there. Chatsworth House - home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire is a great place to visit along with many other National Trust and English Heritage properties nearby for great days out. Kedleston Hall, Hardwick Hall and Haddon Hall to name just a few! And Derbyshire has provided picturesque settings for many films recent years.
  • A light comfortable well equipped space with lovely views and a brilliant host. An excellent base for exploring the area

  • I stayed at the garden apartment for three weeks because I hat a work experience in a village close to Milford. Rosemary was very nice and tried to make my stay as comfortable as possible for me. She even helped me to get to know the area around Milford so that I could fine my way to work. The Apartment was very clean and really sweet. Everything important were there and Rosemary even put something to eat in the kitchen so that I didn't have to find a shop on a Sunday evening. All in all I really enjoyed my time there and would absolutly recommend it to everyone who wants to spend some time in this area.

  • We had a wonderful time in Milford at the"Garden Apt". We had a beautiful view of a small valley that we enjoyed. The accommodations were very nice. Our host was very friendly and shared many points of interest with us about the mills, and the rich local history and other places to visit. She mentioned a CD on the subject and we saw that she was the producer. She has great insight on her community and is very artistic as well. It was very peaceful and quiet and we had a wonderful time!

3 story cottage built in 1770. In a World heritage site to preserve the legacy of it's ties to the industrial revolution. Stunning scenery with views from the house and patio. Great local walks including the Chevin, an old Roman road, which can be seen from the house itself. A 20 minute drive to Cromford, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, and 45 minute drive to Chatsworth a House and Gardens. The Peak District can easy be accessed from the house via the A6 which runs nearby. One of our local pubs, The Holly Bush, is a 16th century hostelry which serves a range of real ales from jugs. If you are a city person, Derby is a 20 minute bus ride away and Nottingham 45 minutes. There are 2 local train stations which can take you via Nottingham and Derby to anywhere in the UK. My home is ideally suited to anyone who would like to explore the Peak District, a beautiful National Park, with something for everyone. Whilst I am happy to host, I would also be happy to let out the whole house for a family. I am a social media junkie, so communication is not going to be a problem! I will be happy to give any advice or tips where needed but equally recognise that this is your break so I will keep a respectful distance. Should you wish to rent the whole house, I will be here to welcome you. I have travelled the world independently and have friends in many countries. I look forward to meeting you! Milford is a beautiful place to live with something for everyone. See guest access section for more information.
  • I rented the cottage while I was at a training course for the weekend and found it to be just what I wanted. It's an AirBnB in the classic sense, very much someone's home and situated in a typical terrace of tiny mill houses clinging to a steep hillside overlooking the valley. The house is on a footpath off the road which makes it lovely and quiet. The narrow local streets could make parking an issue but I found a spot by the church at the foot of the steep steps that lead directly up to the terrace on both evenings. I've learned to travel with a rucksack not a suitcase which pays off in situations like this. Being able to sit out at the front of the cottage, looking out over the valley without having cars driving by the gate more than made up for the climb to the front door! If you like AirBnb this is a good place to stay in this area.......the invisibility of cars in a village situation is very rare these days.

    Bob2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • A pure gem. The cottage was built in the late 1700's for mill workers and whilst those folks probably had a hard life their legacy is a charming dwelling overlooking the Derwent valley. Of course it was built a long time before personal transport was available to all so the entire terrace is accessible only by foot, adding to the notion of getting away from it all (you will receive very comprehensive instructions about parking and access). The house is beautifully designed over three floors by those clever industrial engineers, it functions perfectly today with the welcome addition of an inside bathroom. Your bedroom is on the top floor and is nicely uncluttered. The host wasn't present during our stay and so once again the magic of Airbnb gave us a real home to live in, even if only for one night.

  • Penelope's place is a cute cottage over three floors with tremendous views over the Derwent Valley. A perfect place to stay if visiting the area. Although we know the area quite well we hadn't appreciated the historical significance of the buildings in the locality. Penelope had left plenty of detailed information which we used to explore on the morning we left. An ideal place to spend a few days. Highly recommended.

Magnolia Cottage is a Grade II listed 240 year old cottage located on the cobbled street of Long Row in the historical town of Belper. We have carefully renovated this beautiful stone home, trying to keep as much character and history as possible. We absolutely love our cottage, and look forward to sharing it with anyone interested in having a relaxing break in the countryside, Less than 10 minutes walk from Belper bus and train stations
There are 2 sets of stairs leading to the 2nd floor bedroom. The 2nd floor bedroom has a king sized bed and the 1st floor has a double sized bed. The living room is furnished to be comfortable and cozy. We have mixed a few local history pieces with more modern pieces to create a place that fills everyones needs. We also have a large selection of DVD's for you to enjoy. The smart TV is available for you to watch Netflix if you have an account. Very good wifi from every room. The bedrooms both have lovely views of the countryside and the 2nd floor bedroom overlooks the East Mill. This cottage is perfect for hikers and walkers. We are located at the gateway to the Peak District, and in less than 5 minutes you can pick up a footpath leading to Cromford and Matlock If you are planning to stay for a longer visit we can arrange for our local cleaner to visit for an extra charge.
Belper is a historic town, with small shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. The Ritz is a lovely independent movie theatre, all are a 5-10 minute walk away. There are many hikes and walks nearby. What makes it so special here are the friendly neighbors and their sense of pride about the area. If you are looking for a place to have a party and make a lot of noise please look elsewhere! The beauty of this cottage is the quietness and peacefulness that surrounds it.
  • Very cosy cottage - loved the history and character. The spacious master bedroom with the exposed brick chimney was particularly lovely! Great location - walking distance to the high street in Belper with shops and amenities, and also close to the Peak District which we accessed by car.

It was such a delight to stay somewhere that is so clearly a well-loved family home. Heidi was brilliant- always in touch speedily and even offered us a slightly later check out to relax after a busy day at the wedding! A wholly delightful experience! Thank you 😊

A beautiful renovated chapel on the edge of the Peak District with a huge, light open plan living space upstairs and four good sized bedrooms including one en suite and a family bathroom downstairs (we call it an 'upside down' house!) Ideally set up for families and groups of friends, it is nestled within the pretty village of Milford within walking distance to local pubs and parks and a 5 minute drive from the shops and amenities of Belper.
A unique converted chapel with three bedrooms and a playroom / kids bedroom downstairs, huge open plan kitchen / living space upstairs, one en suite shower room, one family bathroom with bath and shower, small back garden and decking area and desk area in open plan space upstairs.
We’re nestled within a small, close-knit community close to Belper and on the edge of the beautiful Peak District. The nearest city is Derby.

  • We absolutely loved our stay here. Sally answered every query we had very promptly. We all had a fabulous time. The bedrooms were comfortable with loads of toys and books for our children. In particular, they loved spending time lounging on the bean bags! The cottage itself is beautiful and we loved the open plan upstairs. The unusual nature of the house meant that we could hear some noise from upstairs when we were in the downstairs bedrooms but this wasn't really a problem and is to be expected in a wonderful conversion like this. Great location and everything was fabulous.

    Jennifer2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay in Sally's place. The chapel had a very nice feel about it and the place was equipped with everything we needed. It is located close enough to places of interests which was very convenient but in a very quiet spot at the same time. You could tell that Sally made sure the place was very clean. I would recommend this place 100%.

High quality Bed & Breakfast accommodation in a 1828 period, stone-built, Grade II Listed, Nailmaster's Residence set in half-acre secluded formal gardens in Belper's historic Conservation Area. The three bedrooms, 2 x D, 1 Twin (all en-suite)
About the Cedars... In the late 18th century, Belper was the nailmaking centre of Britain, with over 500 nailers working around the town. The ‘Nailmaster’ of Belper, Abram Harrison, built himself a grand house on a small farm between Jedediah Strutt’s mill village and the town of Belper, and this house, originally called ‘Field House’, is now known as The Cedars. The parkland, walled gardens, and cedar trees once surrounding the house were long ago reduced to the present half an acre of mature formal gardens and terracing - a peaceful retreat of trees and lawns in the historic heart of Belper. The Cedars has a colourful history: A Silversmith lived here at the turn of the century; a judge owned the house before the First World war; it was strafed by enemy planes in WWII; the house became Belper Clinic after the war, and after a period in the 1980s as the HQ of a local building firm, The Cedars became the Headquarters of Deb Chemicals PLC. In 1996, Neil and Ann Wayne took on the task of turning this last of the great town-houses of Belper back into a family home. There were no bathrooms, no kitchen, all fireplaces were long gone, the cellars lay unopened since 1921, and much of the original Regency character and detailing had been lost from the interiors.
Belper’s famed River Gardens, Visitor Centre and Heritage Centre are a short stroll and the fine scenery and attractions of the “White Peak” and Peak National Park are but a short drive; why not visit Ashbourne, Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall, The Tramway Museum, Alton Towers, the spa town of Buxton or the caves of Castleton during your stay?
  • Neil was a great host, easy going and always willing to help.

200 year old, three-storey mill-worker's cottage, an easy 5 minute walk from Belper town centre and the train station, with links to the Peak District, Derby and beyond one double bedroom, a sofa in the living room and a couple of inflatable mattresses which can be made up as a double in the attic room. Max group size 4 adults
A three-storey terraced cottage. This is my home, which is mostly available when the wanderlust takes me elsewhere. Just to be clear, this is my home, where I live. If staying in someone else's home makes you feel uncomfortable, then this isn't the place for you. There's a double bedroom, a sofa in the living room and floor space with inflatable mattresses available in another two rooms (normally made up as a double bed in the attic), with bedding and towels for everyone. (Although it's certainly not a big house by any means, and there's only the one bathroom.) Maximum group size is 4 adults (insurance restrictions). Downstairs is the living room, with sofa (sofa bed if needed) and the all important wood burner: in the winter there will be a basket full of wood, with firelighters and kindling. A step up takes you into the kitchen, with electric hob and fan oven, fridge and washing machine in the galley area towards the back door and a freezer under the stairs. The back garden (more of a yard really, as it's mosly paved) is up steps out of the back door, a real suntrap during the day in the summer. Feel free to use the herbs from the garden or to take chairs out there to sit in the sun. The 'bathroom' is off the kitchen: a bit of a misnomer, as there is no bath tub, but the shower is hot and has great pressure. Stairs take you up to the first floor, where there is a west-facing double bedroom and a small office, from where more stairs take you up to the attic room. The attic gets the morning light, as it faces east, and makes for a great place to sit with a book and a glass of wine in the evening. If needed, there are a couple of inflatable single mattresses, with plenty of floor space for them up here (can be made up as a double) or there's space for a single in the office (if you really need it). The office also makes a good place to put a travel cot, if you have tiny people but don't want them in the same bedroom as you... If you're travelling with kids, there's a great park just down the road, literally 50 metres away, which keeps nephews and nieces occupied for ages. What I don't have is any dining space: it's an eat off your lap house, I'm afraid. On-street parking.
Belper is a great little town, far enough out of Derby to have a life of its own, not too far from the Peak District National Park. Belper has a thriving town centre (Britain's Best High Street 2014, no less!), with a good deli (Fresh Basil) that also does a great cooked breakfast, small cinema (Ritz), a couple of supermarkets, excellent off-licence (Liquid Treasure), old fashioned sweet shop, plenty of the usual eateries (curry houses, chinese takeaways, a thai and bistro-type dining at 'Nourish at No. 44'), greengrocers, butchers, bakers (no candlestick maker that I know of, I'm afraid). There's a monthly farmers' market a 5 minute walk from the house on the 2nd Saturday of each month (go for the ostrich burgers and cinnamon donuts), an annual arts festival in May, food festival in July and visiting fun fair. The town is in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, with East Mill down on the river home to a nesting pair of Peregrines, who often fly over the house! And for those who need their fix of the big city, Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield and Leicester are all an easy train ride away, and the Trans Peak bus service takes you to Manchester (although it takes its time...).

  • We stayed at Philip's cottage for 3 nights and we enjoyed our visit very much. The communication prior to our stay was extremely good and Philip provided everything that we needed in the cottage. It is a very sweet little place with real character and as there were 5 of us it was a little tight on space but Philip had been very honest about that before we arrived, so it was not a surprise to us. Belper is a traditional market town and we enjoyed visiting the local pubs in the area that Philip had recommended.

    Jane2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic little cottage perfect for exploring a beautiful part of the world. Phillip made us feel very welcome, complete with providing a bottle of wine, orange juice, bread and milk. Also great to have a play park at the bottom of the road within view of the front door.

    Rachel2016-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 2 nights in Philips cottage which was cosy, interning and very comfortable. Philip made us feel very welcome, leaving a gift of wine and chocolates as well as bread, milk and other essentials. Belper is a pleasant little town and the house is in a quiet location close to all amenities. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property.

  • Le rez de chaussée était vraiment juste mais les chambres dans les étages très correctes. Belper est une petite ville très sympathique bien située pour rayonner sur les sites touristiques environnants. Les campagnes superbes donc séjour réussi

This fine old stone chapel was built in 1817 and is set in the heart of ‘The Clusters’ conservation area of the mill town of Belper. . There’s a huge 40ft galleried and beamed 1st Floor living room, and a downstairs lounge also. Pubs, bistros and heritage trails at the door, with riverside walks 400 yards. Alton Towers, Chatsworth and Kedleston Hall and Haddon Hall are all under 30 minutes. It can host 20 guests, for a 4-Day or a 7-Day stay. Shops, pubs, restaurants are all within 200 yards.
Two spacious Lounges, a Sauna, and 8+1 bedrooms for up to 20 guests
Belper is a small and characterful market town, in the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills' World Heritage site. The active local council stages Food Fairs, Farmers' Markets, Beer Festivals and poetry trails within the town.
  • A very spacious property which is good for a big group. Large lounge upstairs with plenty of sofas and comfortable chairs. Front garden with table and chairs and a bbq. Good location in Belper near to the local shops and restaurants, and a nearby lake where you can hire boats. However the owners did ask for my address which was bizarre (and against air bnb policy and air bnb advise against giving this) and the letting agency that act on behalf of the owner replied when I asked why: ‘All guests at all the properties are asked for their address whether AirB&B or from whatever source. As owners who are renting out their properties to strangers I do not think that having an address is out of order’ Also to note the information pack says 5 cars could be parked but this was not possible as would entail blocking the neighbour’s car.

  • Good place for a large family gathering. Children loved it.

    Margaret2018-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for an affordable gathering of friends but the house could do with some updating and extra amenities.

    Donna2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fun stay overall. Perfect for exploring the peaks and the lovely countryside of Derbyshire. House is the very lovely market town of Belper. Belper has everything you could possibly need. The house is hidden by a road of shops, pubs and takeaways - well hidden away but incredibly central Layout is quirky to say the least but it’s actually perfect for large groups who want a huge communal area yet private space too. Plenty of space to sit and relax as well as private sleeping areas. If you are traveling with young children- be aware there are stairs everywhere. It’s hard to block them all off. Good facilities- but be aware you need many many £1 coins for the electricity meter and the car park. The house was clean and tidy. The decor is tired (but accurately described) but everything was comfortable and in working condition We would happily stay here again.

  • This is a cheap and cheerful place, really well located in Belper, the suspended ceilings and grouting in the showers could use some updating. We had a big family holiday and loved the central common area. The kitchen is really well equipped, there's not much outdoor space, but enough for a b and Neil and Ann are very responsive and helpful hosts.

    Mike2018-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The garden is beautiful and the main common room light and spacious. The venue recently added having towels available as a service and they were a nice size and felt nice to use. It took us a while to figure out how to use the heating system, but once we did, plenty of hot water was available. One thing that could make this venue even better is if they were able to upgrade from a coin system for paying for light and heat. I felt anxious the whole time about running out and was constantly watching the machine! Overall, a good visit with ample time to cook, eat, do yoga and meditate.

  • This was a return visit. Robert is a kind and hospitable host who had several good recommendations for pubs and places to go (the Hollybush and the King William are especially good), and even took us on a tour of the area one morning. It's a great base to explore Derbyshire. We really enjoyed staying at his cottage and hope to return again.

  • A warm welcome and excellent company in a fabulous location. I had a lovely time at Rob's home. Wonderful hosts.

  • I recently had a very comfortable stay at Robert's house. Despite booking at short notice he was incredibly accommodating. The bedroom, kitchen facility and bathroom are all great. There's also quite a stunning view from the front door of the house (impressive even on an otherwise cloudy day!) A great host and a highly recommended place to stay for anyone coming to the area.
