Join us for an unforgettable horse riding safari among South African wildlife. We are great for groups, teambuilding events, and we are a family friendly adventure. We welcome guests from all walks of life and look forward to sharing our unique trail ride with you.
We start out by getting you comfortably onto a horse that is most suitable for you, based on weight and previous experience. If you've never ridden before, we show you the basics you'll need for the ride.
We set out on a short walk through the farm to the wildlife sanctuary, where we'll spend the next hour and a bit riding through the reserve to view giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, eland, bontebok, springbuck, & other animals, as well as a variety of birdlife, before the return ride back to the farm. Our horses are a South African breed called a boerperd, known for being gentle, calm and brave. The majority of our horses are ridden bitless.
In respect to the wildlife in their environment, we are only allowed to go at a walking pace inside the game reserve.
Paseo a caballo entre viñedos
I will take you and your small private group of guests on a horse ride through some of South Africa's most well-known wine estates. Along the way, we will take in spectacular views of Table Mountain and the mountains of Stellenbosch and we'll see many different bird species and possibly, some antelope. For our two-hour ride, we'll start off with a short lesson for novices to ensure everyone is comfortable with their horse and their equipment. When everyone is happy, we'll set off. We are very privileged to ride among the vineyards, orchards and arguably the best views in the winelands. We'll then head back toward Vredenheim, surrounded by mountains, vineyards, and tranquility. All levels of riders are catered for, so you will get exactly the ride you want, be it a gentle meander through the vineyards or a fast-paced canter down a sandy track. Our horses are very well trained, and very well looked after. We'll never ride the same trail twice, so no one will get bored of the route.
Other things to note
Please make every effort to arrive on time. If you are running a little late, please contact me so I can try to accommodate you. I will try to delay our departure, but can not guarantee this.
Stellenbosch Wine tour in a small group with a wine graduate
Join a full day wine tour to 4 handpicked wineries in Stellenbosch. This tour is usually a small group of up to 8 guests in total.

Paseo a caballo por los viñedos
My one hour vineyard ride is the perfect ride for complete novices and people who’ve never been on a horse.
If you’ve always wanted to ride a horse, but never had the chance, this ride is for you.
I will give everyone a quick tutorial to show the basics, before we take a gentle stroll through our own farm, and across to our neighbour’s vineyard. Very nervous riders can have a guide on the ground or a lead attached to my horse. The horses are very well trained, and easy to ride.
Along the ride we are likely to see many different bird species, wild flowers, the occasional bokkie, and of course the glorious views.
While we keep beginners safe by sticking to a walk, more experienced riders will have a chance to trot or canter, provided they know how and don't bounce on the horses’ backs.
Please note a strict weight limit of 95 kg will be enforced.
Late arrivals- although we will try our best to accomodate late arrivals, I may have to cut your ride short due to other bookings or commitments.
On the farm we also have a Big Cat sanctuary where guests can see lions, cheetah, tigers and white lions.
Wine tasting, gin tasting (weekends only) a restaurant, game drives and magnificent gardens are all available to our guests.

Ruta a caballo por un viñedo con almuerzo y cata (medio día)
Our Half day Horse back wine tour is possibly the best blend of great horses, fabulous food and great wine imaginable! If you only have 1 day in the winelands, this is the best way to spend it!
We set off from our base Vredenheim winery as soon as everyone is comfortable & happy with their steeds.
We ride across 4 winefarms where we have the opportunity to see local deer, endless bird species and 360° views of the Winelands and the spectacular mountains around it.
Experienced riders will have plenty opportunities for trots & canters through the vineyards, while less experienced riders will be kept safe by sticking to a gentle stroll.
The views are spectucular, and the horses are well trained, so regardless of your experience, everyone gets a great ride.
Lunch is usually at Boschkloof estate or Vredenheim estate. (lunch and wine tasting for own account)
Guests are invited to relax under ancient oak trees, enjoy the gardens, enjoy splendid food and sip on some of our best wine, all while the horses relax nearby. It truely is a slice of heaven! A crackling fire will be going in winter.
After lunch we mount up and take a gentle stroll back home.
Guests should have some riding experience and have a reasonable level of fitness.
The trail is 10 miles (16 km) and mostly done at a walk.

En bici por carreteras y caminos de los viñedos de Stellenbosch
Depending on your needs, and heat of the day, we hit the road (latest) by 08:30, aiming to take one break, and end the ride latest 13:00.
To ensure we are on the 'same page' before we hit the road, once all texting, emailing, and bookings are done, we try meet 30 minutes before our start, to ensure that we can fully meet your expectations.
Things we chat about:
1. If you need to take a break from riding, be ready to order motorised transport using your mobile phone, for a service such as Uber
2. How we deal with (un)expected issues, out of the road, such as delays due to crashes, puncture, and other matters
3. Destinations that cater for all dietary needs
4. Whether we should include wine in our diets :) or garagiste / craft beer
Other things to note:
Our riding pace and time in the saddle is determined by you, the guest. If we are a bigger group, we also pair up guests of equal ability, and provide each such group with a guide.
Mountain biking in Franschhoek, like a local
We will meet at a local bike shop to rent mountain bicycles. (Rental not included)
Best days would be Saturday or Sunday, best time would be early morning or afternoon.
I will provide a sports drink and carry a repair kit, for standard breakdowns.
We will cycle along Franschoek town centre (1km), past the historic Franschhoek Huguenot monument (photo opportunity) and on to a road leading out of town, past several farms with great views (4km on hard surface road), we will then arrive at the Berg River dam. From there several options (on dirt roads) exists which theoretically can be self-guided, but with local knowledge of trails, I would suggest the best option, based on party competence, skill and fitness levels.
The most scenic, would be a ride along the edge of the dam (6km) which will wind back around a local miuntain (known a “matoppi”. Opportunities to dip in dam is available on hot days.
We the have the option to stop at a local brewery (Hey Joe) for a beer, something to eat or a caffeine boost.
Finally we will return to Franschhoek via (hard surface) foot path along the main approach road.
Again, there is an opportunity to stop at my favourite local Cellar (Franschhoek Cellar) for refreshments. A glass of wine or a substantial (well deserved) meal is no in order since we are less than 1km away from bicycle shop where we need to return bikes to.

Pesca con mosca en Ciudad del Cabo
We will be fly-fishing for Rainbow and Brown Trout in what is known as the Cape Streams, beautiful crystal-clear waters that run in and around the Worcester / Paarl mountains.
