The Napier Museum, an art and natural history museum, is standing since the 19th century. Named after the then Madras Governor General, the museum’s beautiful architecture boasts an Indo-Saracenic influence. One of the unique things at this museum is the Japanese shadow play in which leather figures depicts the epics of Mahabharata and Ramayana. You can also marvel at the large collection of archaeological and historic artefacts which include bronze idols, ancient ornaments and much more.

Natural History Museum Timings: Open 10:00 am - 05:00 pm , Wednesday 01:00 pm - 04:45 pm. Closed on Mondays Zoo Timings: 9:00 am – 5:15 pm Closed on Mondays - Nice to see historical displays at the museum. - Zoo and museum are in the same compound. - Even though the museum and zoo are closed at around 5.15 pm, you could spend your evenings in the museum garden till around 9 pm.
