Southern peak of the Catskill Escarpment in the Central Catskill Mountains near Woodstock, NY. Overlook Mountain Trail is 4.6 mi heavily trafficked out &back, features beautiful wild flowers & rated as moderate. The Trails offers number of activities & is best used March-November.
Always a favorite, this hike has it all: spectacular views, a fire tower, the ruin of a hotel and tired legs at the end of it!
Popular hike and great to pair with a daytrip to Woodstock. Not too challenging but still feels like a good hike. You'll go past the ruins of the former Overlook Mountain House.

You will find the trailhead at the top of Rock City Rd. Parking is limited, so get there early. And easy trail but it is uphill. You will get to see the old ruins of a hotel (think great insta!) and an old fire tower. Great views of the Catskills.
