Ok.... this place is a must! Looks a bit hokey from the front but the Museum is done so well! The Carriage House overlooks the first Civil War Hospital called The Hessian Barracks. You will walk away from this spot with a great insight of why Frederick, MD is on the map. ....and, you're welcome :)

The ONLY NATIONAL museum of Civil War medicine in the USA. Does have a wax museum component that could be frightening to little children and squeamish adults :-)

For Civil War buffs, this museum really brings to light the atrocity of the war. It also reveals advancements made in medicine during this horrific time in US history. Impactful!
