Allan's Bakery

This takeout bakery makes the most authentic Caribbean pastries in Brooklyn. Customers line up for its sweet breads and cassava pone, a dense, pudding-like cake served in slices. You’ll find it in a corridor of shops along Nostrand Ave. known as the Little Caribbean, so grab a couple of treats then go eat your way around the neighboring shops. I can’t leave without getting one of the coconut or currant rolls. They’re both perfectly flaky on the outside and moist and doughy on the inside, with a hint of sweetness.
