“Okay. So it's gentrified. The local population has been priced out and the creative people who didn't luck out had to move further into the suburbs. Those who have stayed have been moaning about the bankers, PR bunnies and socialites who've moved in. But there are still gems in the rough - many. And getting to know neighbourhoods and communities is one of the best things about living in Hackney. If you make a conscious effort to avoid the incoming chain stores and hang out where people from different socioeconomic classes hang out, you'll find out why we love this part of London and wouldn't live anywhere else. There's a deep working class history to be found here - and you can learn a lot from looking at the domestic architecture around you. (And if you look at which streets have been most recently paved, you'll also find the streets where the richer people live).”

“If you want a slice of ancient London then the quiet streets of Clerkenwell are worth wandering. It's an area which is so close to the City and St Paul's but full of small streets based on the old Medieval grid and there are now small shops and old architecture to explore.”

“Islington is cool, chic and just a little bit fancy without being too showy. Sitting pretty in the north of the city in the London Borough of Islington. With a mix of high-end writer-types & the smart city workers, you’ll also find students from London’s universities hanging out in the local bars and cafés. Located in the north of the city near Camden and Hackney, Islington is a 30-minute walk from the city centre. The borough is really well connected by the Underground – there are ten tube stops near the Islington area including Angel, Farringdon and King's Cross. You may hear a little bit more French being spoken around the area as the Eurostar terminal is located on the Islington border at St Pancras station. Upper Street is the place to be seen with restaurants, bars and quirky homewares stores attracting the fashionistas. There’s loads to do and it's a highly desirable area to live in for a lot of people moving to the city.”
