WIthin walking distancing you find our neighboorhoods landmark the Cathedral of St Bavo (confusingly enough the Church in the centre is also called the Bavo). It's often overlooked but def worth a visit. Especially because you can also climb the tour and have amazing views over Haarlem. Open Mon-Sa. 10:30 - 17:00, Sun 12:00-17:00 Sa: organconcert at 16:00. Zaterdag: orgelconcert vanaf 16.00 uur

I know its rather confusing, because Haarlem has two St Bavo churches.(one of them is on the main square Grote Markt, this one is on the Leidsevaart) Both are well worth a visit. There is a very nice walk between these 2 churches. This route can be downloaded on www.visithaarlem.com and is a lovely way to discover Haarlem. It is also possible to reach it by boat on the hop on hop off boat. Open every day from 10.00 till 16:30. Entrance fee includes a audio tour. Climbing the tour costs extra.
