Ruins of an early 12th century abbey. At the north entrance there is the life-sized carving of a broadsword on the threshold stone. Grass playground next door and a good pub too.
Free entry, nice place for a stroll round and looking at the history of Sawley Abbey.
Tranquil ruins in a small village with river walks and a decent eatery, The Spread Eagle.
