This is must go for history lovers! As you might now, Santo Domingo is the first city of the new world (meaning first settlement in the whole continent after Christpher Colombus arrival), there you will find plenty of museums and intact colonial buildings. Would absolutely recommend to visit Alcazar de Colon.

Ciudad Colonial is the historic central neighborhood of the Dominican Republic's capital Santo Domingo. It is the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the Americas. One of my favorites places to be in Santo Domingo.
