The Chicago Cultural Center, opened in 1897, is a Chicago Landmark building that houses the city's official reception venue where the Mayor of Chicago has welcomed Presidents and royalty, diplomats, and community leaders. It's free, too! They regularly have awesome exhibits and it's a must-see when sightseeing in downtown Chicago.

The building is well worth the visit alone. Beautiful exhibition space, The architecture is gorgeous. It is open for long hours, this is an excellent out of the way tourist spot. It is also a great spot to get free booklets of what is happening in the city and surrounding areas

Formerly the building which housed the Chicago Public Library, the Chicago Cultural Center is in itself a work of art. The mosaics, tile work, and Tiffany domes are worth checking out. The Cultural Center also has rotating exhibitions from some of the most cutting edge artists of today. Admission is always FREE.
