“There was a lot of buzz when this bookstore opened in 2015 as part of the revitalization of Grandmont Rosedale, a beautiful old neighborhood. There’s something very civilized about it. It has restored wooden floors, beautiful carpets, a big fluffy cat who’ll sit on your books, and tables where people can sit and talk and read. The Turner House, a novel that was shortlisted for the National Book Award, about a Detroit family. It really took the hearts of Detroiters in particular, and Angela Flournoy, the author, came to Pages to read from it.”

“Urbanrest is a small neighborhood brewery with a tasting room! They brew and serve beer and kombucha as well as an array of rotating charcuterie boards. They also have a steady flow of food trucks serving delicious grub just about every night. Order your food outside, bring it in, and enjoy it with a brew.”

Restaurante del Medio Oriente
“Great Mediterranean place, love their chicken shawarma, spinach pie, and they have the best rice pudding around(I know the secret ingredient;). Nice outdoor patio space.”

“A local watering hole that has some great music/dance parties. There is a small grill inside that serves unique hot dogs with vegan options. This place recently reopened after a true David vs Goliath situation. None of the buildings surrounding the bar were there a couple years ago but when they were being built, construction workers cracked the side of the UFO Factory "accidentally", nearly knocking a whole exterior brick wall down. It was more widely known that the developers wanted the land and were most likely trying to put the local favorite out of business so it could be torn down and built on. UFO fought back and won millions of dollars in a settlement and reopened after being closed for a year.”
