Natur- und Tierpark Goldau is one of six scientifically managed zoos in Switzerland. It is situated in the area that was devastated by the Goldau landslide of 1806. The zoo attracted 859,000 visitors in 2013
Goldau is home to mainly domestic and European animals. In the large open-air area, visitors can get direct acquaintance with sika deers, fallow deers and mouflons and feed the animals themselves. In the animal park, rare mammals and birds are bred in conservation breeding programs such as the Syrian Brown Bear, the European bison or the northern bald ibis. Particularly noteworthy is the international breeding program for bearded vulture.
