The Casa de la Aduana, where the museum is located is supposedly the oldest Spanish construction that remains standing in the city. This is where Bolivar's wake was held. Free and worth a visit.

A fascinating small museum in the old customs house of Santa Marta. Here you can find out all about the history of the region, and about the indiginous tribes who inhabit it. Free entry.

Free entry to our Gold Museum. Whilst not the same as the Bogota museum, this is a worthwhile visit that will give you a great overview of the old indigenous populations of the whole Santa Marta region and how the influenced the area.

Bar
“Rock bar that used to be set up in Bogotá. The owners moved to Taganga over a decade ago and brought the whole joint with them, billiard pool table and all, even the infamous red bathtub. Sometimes there's live music. ”

Parque
“Parque Tayrona has many beaches to visit and stay overnight. The most popular areas are Playa San Juan del Cabo, Arrecifes and La Piscina. You can visit the park during the day and come back to Santa Marta or stay overnight. I recommended visiting Playa San Juan del Cabo and the famous nudist beach (it’s not nudist but people call it that way). To get to those beaches you mis take a bus or taxi to the Zaino entrance of the park and from there walk 3-4 hours to get to the last beach (playa nudista), you may also go by horse paying an extra fee upon your arrival to the park. ”
