Fougères' most famous monument and attraction is the Château de Fougères, a medieval stronghold built atop a granite ledge, which was part of the Duchy of Brittany's ultimately unsuccessful defence against French aggression, along with its weekly market day each Saturday.
The forest is great to walk or bike in and in the summer there is a small beach and lake to swim in.
Lovely old town with a huge castle, cathedral and beautiful walks through the parks
