A unique and interesting museum, even if you're not very into art. Jean Tinguely makes installations, which you can see all over Basel (one is right in front of the Basel Theatre).

This art makes a good mood. The fantastic machines are not simply on the ground but run also at certain times of the day (about every 15 minutes). The TV documentaries are also informative and worth seeing. 2 hours should be scheduled for Tinguely museum at least.
It is my favorite museum in Basel. Jean Tinguely is usually spotted at the Tinguely fountain in the center, but visiting the museum is a much more intense experience. The collection of machines in that one space is truly mind-blowing and definitely worth visiting. Even for kids it is interesting…
