One of two of the only remaining arches of the original city wall constructed in the Middle Ages. Beautiful area of the city with many restaurants, the city museum, the old Claddagh pier and many, many swans. Stunning spot to relax in the city right next to the roaring River Corrib.

The Spanish Arch was built in 1584 and is a remnant of the old city walls built by local merchants to protect the city. The nearby Long Walk is a much loved strolling area for local and tourists. Galway City Museum is also on the Spanish Arch Square.

The Spanish Arch is one of Galway's big spots for tourists! So jump on the bandwagon and get a selfie down there. Make sure and take a walk across the bridge to the Claddagh on the far side of the river for great views back across the city
