Food Scene

My Favourite by far! This little cafe is tucked in a lane behind an great little gift shop Roma Gifts. The shop was once a storage area for the horse carts for the "Gentlemen's Club". The ambience is unique and quirky. Food and coffee amazing. Gluten free- Vegetarian and vegan options available. Open Wed - Sat 7:30-3:00pm Sun 7:30 - 1pm

Maurizio is the Italian owner who makes the best pizza's! Even the Italians eat here, so that is an advertisement in itself! They make their own Gelato. The restuarant overlooks the Indian Ocean, imagine eating pizza watching the sunset! Open Tue-Sun 5pm till late.

We drop in here when ever we can organise our departure from Perth to suit the opening times. This has to be my most favourite place to eat! It is usually only open in the summer months. The food is amazing and the ambiance of being so close to a secluded beach is delightful. A unique experience.

Great to break up the trip to Geraldton. Grab a pie then go down to the beach for lunch and a swim.

Sightseeing

A must see. Best times here are at sunset or early mornings. There is almost a 360 deg view of Geraldton's coastline. The story of it's inception is very interesting too. Prior to the erection of the memorial the hill was once a popular "parking spot" for courters.

This used to be a popular camping place for the locals but has now become the hub for Windsurfers and Kite surfers. It is amazing to watch them. If your here during the season you might be lucky to be able to camp here. Well worth going for a look and nice for a swim.

Beach and river all in one area. I would only recommend swimming here if your experienced with strong currents, this spot has claimed lives (one was a close friend) The hike is great through the trees and around the river. The walk along the beach is lovely too. Be careful in you go to the point, if it is a stormy day, do not stand down by the rocks, lives have been taken from here too. Once again I know from personal experience. Treat this place with a lot of respect. The place is beautiful but hazardous.

Yalgoo is gold country. Be careful wandering off into the bush as there are many, mining holes that disappear into the earth. The gold was so prolific here in the early days. The aboriginal children would collect the gold into piles of pretty yellow rocks. Not so easy to find now days though. The story goes about Jokers tunnel is an exploration team were running out of time and money and wanted to check if the hill had any metal deposits, so they drilled a tunnel right through the hill. You can walk through the tunnel. I do not recommend you come here in the summer. Make sure you take a torch as there may be snakes.
