鉄輪温泉には、昔からお客が宿で自炊するときに利用した温泉噴気のかまどがあります。このかまどを観光客にも体験できるようにしたのが「地獄蒸し工房 鉄輪」です。大分県産の野菜や海産物を釜で蒸して、その場で食べることができます。食材は自分で選ぶことができ、持ち込みも可能。ここだけの楽しい体験ができます。

Kannawa Onsen is known for their hot spring heated kitchen hearths, which guests for years have used to prepare and cook their own steamed dishes. The term "Jigoku-Mushikōbō" literally translates to "Hell-steamed Workshop", which means that at Jigoku-Mushikōbō Kannawa it is possible for visitors to experience this unique cooking technique for themselves.

地獄のなかでも1番大きい地獄が「海地獄(うみじごく)」です。「海地獄」はコバルトブルーの色をしており、地獄というよりリゾート地の海のようです。
この青色は、温泉中の硫酸鉄が溶解したため現れたもの。綺麗な青色をしているので、冷たそうにも感じてしまいますが、実際は98度もあります。決して触らないように注意してください。

The largest hell onsen is the Hell Ocean (Umi jigoku). With its cobalt blue coloration, this onsen seems more like a resort pool than a hellscape.
However, the brilliant blue tint is the result of the sulfuric acid solution that fills the hot spring. Its beautiful waters might look cold, but the spring is actually 98 degrees. Be very careful to avoid getting too close to it.
Clouds of steam rise from the entirety of the Hell Ocean, and if you stand downwind, you can feel the steam wash over you.

Brochures available in English, Chinese, and Korean. You can experience a walk in the air from the height of 503 meters to the top of Tsurumi mountain which is 1300 meters. On a sunny day, you can see Shikoku, and even Chugoku area of Japan. In the Spring time you will have a great view of sakura and Miyamakirishima (Rhododendron kiusianum), in the summer a 10 million dollar view at night, red leaves in autumn, and silver frost in the winter.
