Haddon is home to the Manners family and has been described as “the most perfect house to survive from the middle ages”. It has been used for many period dramas, so if you watched Jane Eyre, Elizabeth, Pride and Prejudice, The Other Boleyn Girl or The Princess Bride you may recognise it! Although it was Lyme Hall, at Disley en route to Stockport where Colin Firth swam in the lake! During the Summer there are often tours of the hall, walks and archery in the gardens.

The Miners Arms in the centre does good pub food and is a great place to sit outside in the Summer and watch the world go by! It has an interesting history and a couple of resident ghosts, if you believe in that sort of thing! It can get busy at weekends and it may be best to book for Saturday night or Sunday lunch. The number is 01433 630853.
