The bakery that would later become known by Piriquita was founded in 1862, about 160 years ago. They worked there Amaro dos Santos, baker by profession and his wife Constância Gomes. The name Piriquita comes from the nickname that D. Carlos I gave to Constância Gomes, based on his short stature. It was King D. Carlos I who encouraged the couple to make the famous Queijadas, a sweet that he enjoyed during his summers in Sintra. The success was immediate and soon the bakery turned into Pastry.

1949 - More than sixty years ago, at the Tamariz and perhaps without having at the time the notion of the size of his gesture, Attilio Santini opened doors of what is without doubt the best known Portuguese gelataria. When attending the first customer, by serving the first cone of what was quickly considered "the best ice cream in the world", Attilio Santini marked the beginning of something that can already be considered a tradition: go to Santini!

Beach bar and restaurant with a beautiful terrace on Guincho beach, built in wood and stone, has a rustic aspect that provides a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Although staying on the beach does not prevent a visit during the winter. On the contrary, the open fire, a breathtaking view of the Atlantic and the Serra de Sintra and the invigorating smell of the sea, are well worth the trip.

The visitor of Boca do Inferno, easily realizes the magnificence of the place. On days of more agitated sea one can observe the beating of the waves by the rocks inside. A kind of cave, which combines its natural beauty with the rough seas. A point of interest very close to the urban center, which invites not only the contemplation of the place, but also a walk or bike path.
