It's close and you can actually walk through the park around the whole quarter. Good for a 30min walk.

Sightseeing
The KØPI is a squatted house and community center. Among other things it has a cinema which regularly shows movies in english language for free a bar and a bike repair shop. The people there are much nicer than they look! Also it draws people from all around, so you might meet fellow travelers.

Food Scene
It is affordable, relatively close, tastes well and has an aquarium. Also it is located in one of the hippest streets in Berlin and if you don't like it there is a million other places around.
