Neighbourhoods

Patcham village is just moments from the A27, A23, and the centre of Brighton. The village dates back to the 12th century and has managed to maintain an idyllic charm that can be hard to come by in this day and age. Flint stone walls and narrow streets track from All Saints Church towards Patcham’s shops and high street. The church - which has been in use since Norman and Saxon times - displays an impressive 13th-century Last Judgement or Doom painting above an archway inside. Further into the village itself a line of terraced cottages leads to a fountain at the site of a well with an inscription to Queen Victoria. The local Miller and carter restaurant can be found here. Across the road from the fountain on London Road is the Grade II-listed Patcham Place mansion and Patcham Place Recreation Ground. The fountain is also at a junction that joins with Old London Road - home to local favourites The Elizabethan Cottage Indian restaurant, The Secret Garden Cafe, as well as the village Bakery, where the Jalfrezi curry pasty is not to be missed! Old London Road joins Ladies’ Mile Road at a parade of local shops and supermarket. Ladies' Mile leads further into the village where the library, schools, Honeys cafe, Fish and chips, La Tana Italian restaurant and The Ladies Mile Pub can be found.
