Point Smythe is an awesome place for a walk.
Many backpackers have gone missing here. The area is rife with drop bears. Never go after dark. Have a treasure hunt. Find abandoned back packs, hiking boots, cameras, tents, swedish flags. It's fun for all the family. "mum, i found a boot... and its still got a foot in it!"
nah. i'm just messing with you. there's no drop bears. it's safe as. its an awesome walk out to the point. once you get there, there's water on three sides and a huge peninsula of sand. beautiful.

Wilsons Prom is an awesome day trip. Its 45 minutes away. Pack a picnic and chill out on one of the beautiful beaches. Or climb Mt Oberon. Anyone can climb it. Topping out at about 3 feet above sea level, its not really a "Mt". It's more an enlarged hill. Wilsons Prom is one of the most beautiful places in Australia. I'm not biased. Ask anyone that has been there.

Andersons Inlet is a great place for kayaking, fishing or paddling for the little ones... and pottering about on the sand at low tide. There is lots of sand at low tide.

Tarwin River
Fishing in Tarwin River is fun. Catch dinner!!!
Beach 5 is the best of the beaches... and as luck would have it, the trail to the beach is at the back of the property. Sweet!!!

If you're a cyclist and you're feeling energetic, Walkerville is a great ride. Its a few hours there and back. Or if the surf is really big at VB and you want something a bit less hectic, Walkerville is more protected. its a short drive.

The Cavity is great for a feed. Their steaks are locally sourced and are top shelf. Tip: if youre there with a group, under order your steak. If you want rare, ask for blue. if you want medium rare, ask for rare. etc. meals sit under the warming light before being brought out which keeps them cooking whilst resting.

Its not in Venus Bay, but does a great feed. Sitting on the deck opposite the river is pretty spesh on a warm night. Book ahead in Summer though. it gets crazy busy.

They serve up reasonable suburban-style pizza. Its got all the classics. Cos that's what you want by the beach. A tried and true classic pizza. With or without pineapple... don't start on it!
