The pier was officially opened on 1 November 1997, on the site of the original New Brighton Pier which had been demolished more than 30 years previously. It is the biggest ocean pier in Australasia. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the opening of the New Brighton Pier on 21 June 2007 the structure became a permanently lit icon of the city’s coast. LED lights along the underside of the pier were switched on, bathing the pillars the length of the pier in a combination of red, green and blue lights. This effectively lights all the columns and the sides of the pier structure creating a dramatic display of colour which is also reflected in the water. The Burwood-Pegasus Community Board commissioned lighting expert Grant Robertson to create the work.

About Adrenalin Forest Adrenalin Forest was started in New Zealand back in 2006 by Jean Caillabet, a French citizen, with his first park in Christchurch. After a lot of hard work, fine tuning and development Jean opened his second park in Wellington in 2010 and then in Bay of Plenty in 2011. Adrenalin Forest quickly became a very popular activity amongst many different user groups who loved the challenge, adrenalin and the independence they had in shaping their aerial adventure. Our clients really enjoy the fact that we train them on what they need to do and how to do it safely. They then go off and have the independence to climb through the trees. The courses at Adrenalin Forest are designed to challenge you mentally and physically. We endeavour to create a safe environment where all ages and fitness levels will be able to find their own limits. The great affordability for 3 hours of such an exciting activity allows all to enjoy what Adrenalin Forest has to offer. Adventure Parks History Created in France in 1995 by a retired army officer. The concept is inspired by his extensive use of army training courses. He adapted the courses to provide a fun and challenging experience. The concept was immediately popular. In the following 5 to 6 years around twenty parks were created mainly in the South-East of France and around tourist centers. Now there is an estimation of about 6000 parks over the world and probably 600 in France only. Over the years many new challenges were invented to create an experience more exciting or challenging. It is all about the fear of height, agility, balance, strength, etc. The courses at Adrenalin Forest are designed to challenge you mentally and physically. We endeavor to create a safe environment where all age and fitness would find their own limits.

It’s time to enter the battlefield! Your mission: Score as many points as you can for your team by striking members of the enemy forces in their target vests on each shoulder, their backs, fronts and Laser Tag phaser guns. And don't forget, the enemy has its sights set on your target vests too, so do your best to out-think, out-last, and out-shoot your foe in an mega exciting Laser skirmish that will get your heart rate up. No Experience Needed Haven’t played Laser Tag before? Feel like you have no clue what you’re doing? Don’t sweat it. No experience is needed to duke it out in a Laser skirmish at our venues. Just gather your friends, search “laser tag near me” to find the nearest location, and head on over to begin your game.

What’s the best activity in Ōtautahi Christchurch? Exploring the International Antarctic Centre. Experience includes Hägglund Field Trip, Storm Dome, Penguin Rescue, HD Theatre & 4D Theatre. See Huskies Thur – Mon. SEE IT. LOVE IT. SAVE IT. Creating Passionate Advocates For The Antarctic We love the Antarctic, which is exactly why we want to share it with the rest of the world. Our ethos: “See it. Love it. Save it.” is our reason for being and a bold vision to make a difference. We believe this spirit of adventure is one of the things that draws people to the Antarctic and is the first step in becoming a passionate advocate. About Us Next to the airport in Christchurch, you can travel to a whole lot of Antarctica. Since 1992, we’ve been transporting visitors to an incredible world of ice and mystery, ambition and endeavour. Located on the International Antarctic Programme’s working campus at Christchurch Airport, the centre has become renowned as one of New Zealand’s most diverse and dynamic tourist attractions. The range of interactive experiences here provides fun, education and excitement for visitors of all ages. We take pride in delivering an inclusive and engaging centre. We hope our visitors are surprised at what’s on offer. Yes, you can look around this website to get an idea of what’s here. But there’s nothing to compare to turning a corner in our attraction and stepping into an incredible, awe-inspiring scene. Here you’ll experience real snow and ice and you’ll survive an indoor Antarctic storm. You’ll learn about life at Scott Base and see what it takes to work on the ice. You’ll hang out with little blue penguins and get close up to a husky. There’s also the exciting Hägglund Field Trip, an awesome 4D Theatre, a massive HD screen and lots, lots more. Our History Christchurch is one of five cities in the world known as a ‘gateway to Antarctica.’ This is far more than an empty title. The garden city acts as a conduit to the icy continent, sharing and championing Antarctic geography, history and culture. In 1990 Christchurch International Airport saw the need for a visitor centre to Antarctica. The airport wanted a complex that could show people why the airport was so important to the Antarctic scientific programmes, and why these programmes and the continent was so important to the world. The airport commissioned Tim Hobson (a regular Antarctic visitor himself) to shape and manage the development of the centre. Renowned local architects Warren and Mahoney were contracted to design the building. The airport campus proved the perfect site for the new building. Home to a number of other Antarctic programmes and organisations, the campus provided an important focal point for the many endeavours happening further south. Since opening in 1992, the International Antarctic Centre has welcomed millions of visitors, steadily introduced exciting new exhibits and experiences and won plenty of awards and much recognition for work in tourism.
