Every McDonald's makes scrambled eggs consistently reliably the way I love 'em, no griddle grime, hot, fresh, and not minced so small you can't stab 'em with a fork. That and a fruit and maple oatmeal makes a good morning sit down for me. No kid gym at the Calimesa location.

Out of several visits to the Yucaipa location, their beef and pork have always been moist, not dried out. It's a small venue.

Sometimes porta-poties are on site, but not regularly cleaned. Liveoak stands, shallow canyons, grassy mesas, chaparral, framed views of Yucaipa Ridge and San Bernardino Peak. Nearby steep trails for leg and low back strength building, vast picturesque vistas. Hiking, biking, and some equestrian. Lands of Yucaipa Regional Park and lands of Crafton Hills Conservancy. Closest access via the soccer complex road gate and parking on Oak Glen Road across the street from Shadow Hills Drive. The geotag and address are for a nearby subdivision neighborhood park. Parking is free just outside the gate. Don't drive past the gate if you are not there for a soccer function, you could get locked in. Also, good paved sidewalk and separate paved bike trail along Oak Glen Road.

Good short hike in the forest to beautiful Horse Meadow stand of Pines (at least before the Lake Fire). Bring water. Toilet at trailhead. Beyond Horse is old Poopout Hill Trailhead. Beyond that (Permit required from Mill Creek RS at Bryant/Route 38) is Slushy Meadows (South Fork Meadows) or all the way to Old Greyback (San Gorgonio Peak, 11, 500+/- ft. el. A Federal Lands Pass or a National Forest Adventure Pass is required for parking at South Fork Trailhead.

Old liveoak trees, mowed grass, pick nick tables, playgrounds, paved parking and gravel equestrian parking, restrooms. Across the street and just down Wildwood Canyon Road a hundred feet or so from the entrance to Wildwood Canyon State Park. I think there are a couple drinking fountains. No fees or permits required.

Closest easiest access to a 9,000 foot el. peak. Start at State Route 38 Onyx Summit at about 8,460 el., then 3 miles on foot via Pipes Road. USFS keeps the road gate closed. Bring water. Pipes Road is native rock, and it is rocky, but so is nearly every other trail around here. Crosses the Pacific Crest Trail about 1 mile in. Road grade gets steeper beyond the road fork to the road that formerly went to Pioneer Town. Don't try for Pioneer Town now, unless you are prepared to overnight it, and are experienced. Vast views in every direction from Onyx Peak, which is covered with telecommunications towers. Plenty of shade on top, but no tables, water or toilets. No required permits.
