This is a staple whenever we go to Duck! We have been going here for decades and always have to take a ride into Kitty Hawk for some of the best seafood/drinks with such an amazing view. They also have awesome outside deck seating for a view of the ocean. *They typically do not take reservations!

Coffee addicts and book worms look no further. This coffee shop/bakery and bookstore is going to be your spot. It is about a 5 minute walk down the road from the house and has the best pastry’s, biscotti and coffee. We highly recommend taking a bag of coconut crunch coffee home with you! It’s located right next to the board walk which is filled with all kinds of shops, restaurants, bars! This is always the first place I go to when I go down to Duck

If you are in to a little history then you should check out Wright Brothers Memorial Museum! The two brothers are known for successfully creating the worlds first motor-operated airplane. They did this on Jockey’s Ridge -which is the tallest sand dune on the Atlantic coast!

1000 N Croatan HwyIf you are in to a little history then you should check out Wright Brothers Memorial Museum! The two brothers are known for successfully creating the worlds first motor-operated airplane. They did this on Jockey’s Ridge -which is the tallest sand dune on the Atlantic coast!

About a 30-45 minute drive from Duck (although a fun day trip when you drive on either the “low road” aka rt 12 alongside the ocean, big houses and mom and pop stores/ restaurants or if you drive on the Croatan highway “high road” which parallels the low road you will pass dozens on dozens mini golf parks, restaurants, thrift stores etc. . .)!

If you want an awesome experience we highly suggest booking a wild pony tour where they take you on the beach and through the dunes to find the wild Spanish mustangs that have been on the Outer Banks for over 400 years.
If you have 4 wheel drive you can also drive your own car on the beach and explore this area- just make sure to research the safety guidelines before driving out on the beach!
