Nor'easter Storms
Every once and a while we get Nor'easter storms that come through. If that happens park on the side of the building. Water will pool in the front of the building and while your car will be safe you will get your feet wet trying to get in your car. Also, the area around the Starbucks is a low area and should be avoided with your car.

$2 Ferry Ride
The local transit authority operates three 150-passenger ferries on the Elizabeth River between Norfolk and Portsmouth. They travel between North Landing and High Street in Portsmouth and the Waterside District in downtown Norfolk. They’re fast and economical. Ferries operate every 30 minutes with 15-minute service during the summer at peak times on weekends. Schedules are subject to change based on operating situations (weather, mechanical problems, etc.). The ferry is wheelchair accessible and allows boarding passengers to walk on with their bicycles.

If you use the tunnel, make sure you have an EZ-Pass or the charge by plate is about $6 each way. You can also go around the tunnel, but it adds about 15 minutes travel time in getting to Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
