Beautiful local woods 20 minute walk away or 5 mins by car (there is plenty of parking). It's the perfect place for a picnic or long walk. I recommend wearing walking shoes. A note for family travellers with young children : the route is best taken with babies in a carrier as it is not pram friendly.

Beautiful park in the centre of Oxford, very close to the Natural history museum. A 1 hour walk or 10 minute drive away. Day trip suggestion: - if you like walking and the weather is nice, follow a series of footpaths from Headington to university parks. The route is scenic including cotswold brick houses, meadows and a river avoiding main roads almost entirely. This route is pram friendly. If you don't fancy walking you can drive 10 mins to Bevington Road where there is free parking for 2 hours. From Bevington Rd it's a 5 min walk to university parks. - once you arrive at university parks there is a lovely loop to walk around the park, with a lake at the centre often filled with ducks and swans. - then spend some time perusing artefacts at the natural history and Pitt rivers museums which is a 5 min walk from University parks And /or walk 10min from University parks to jericho where there are a range of cafes and restaurants. I particularly like Branca which do a lunchtime deli Mon to Fri with a range of salads, sandwiches, pasties and cakes. There is usually also some hot food options (e.g. pizza slices, lasagne, mushroom gnocchi, fish bake). They are also pram friendly with a lot of space between tables.

Cómo moverse

Public transport

There is a bus stop on London Road with multiple buses (e.g. Bus 9, 8, U1) that go into the centre of Oxford. It's only a 5 minute walk to the bus stop (next to Demop hairdresser). There are also a number of places you can visit on foot in the Headington area (see sightseeing suggestions). For visits further afield, there is a coach (Oxford tube) to London from the green road roundabout - the coach stop is a 5 min walk from the house. Westfield Shopping centre is 1hr 15 mins away (third coach stop). The Airline coach to Gatwick and Heathrow airports also stops near the house.

Cafe and restaurants

In Headington I recommend the following cafes and restaurants which can all be reached on foot: *the White Hart pub - their pies are especially good and they have a cosy beer garden to enjoy on a sunny day *Grounded kitchen - korean food bowls, great stop for a quick lunch *the Black boy pub - good sat /sun brunch offer *Coco noir - known for chocolate selection, but I especially like their cinnamon buns *Craft burger - tasty burger options, I recommend the Holy fish or the halloumi burger for vegetarians *Il botanico - Italian cafe with a range of panini and pastry options
