Fort Tilden is a former military base that has been turned into part of a National park; the desolate beach of Fort Tilden has been a local secret for a long time. And at the end of the day, they’ll pack up everything for you. Riis is next to Fort Tilden, and if you’re up for a long walk you can reach Tilden from Riis and vice versa.

No trip to the Rockaways is complete without a stop at Tacoway. Formerly Rockaway Taco, this surfer hangout has delicous food served from a cart in their garden. Live shows and movies happen regularly in the evenings.
