10 km west of the city you can discover the historical bridge of the river Gorgopotamos. The bridge is of WWII historical importance when it was bombarded in order to block the passing of the Nazis. Two of the four columns are stone-made and the other two are of cement as they were the ones destroyed in this operation. The river passes through and the landscape is beautiful within the forestry.

Γειτονιές

In the city centre there are four main squares with shops, restaurants and coffee shops. Parkou square offers a lot of commercial facilities and banks, Diakou square hosts the monument of Athanasios Diakos (a prominent figure during the Greek revolution against the Ottoman Empire), and some cafes and restaurants, Eleftherias square is surrounded by cafes and bars and it is ideal for a night out, while Laou square has a more traditional vibe with small streets, traditional taverns, deli shops and alternative wine bars and cafes.

There's also an old commercial bridge with rail-tracks, which used to be used for cargo services from the port. Looks oldish and abandoned but it is kind of nice :)

Consejos para la ciudad

Cómo moverse

You can walk, take a taxi or the bus

Most of the city districts are within walking distance. However, there is also a bus network too where you can buy the tickets either in designated automatic vending machines or at the kiosks. The price is around 2€. The taxis are also very cheap in general (3-5€) for commuting around the city. There's a central bus station 10 minutes walking from the residence and frequent buses are covering the whole region and the seaside spots (Raches, Kammena Vourla etc).
