Local market

Kolaport is a marketplace with second-hand items and clothes (you can find women who knit the famous lopapeysa or get a second hand one) and has an interesting food court with rare local culinary items

Swimming pool

Swimming pools in Iceland should not be missed! This one is our personal favorite. It's an outdoor pool, with a steam bath and a selection of hotpots. It's about 20 minute really nice walk (or bussess 11 and 13 from Lækjatorg) There is nothing like soaking in the hotpot at the end of the day. There is also a very nice cafe and bakery across the street and a nice little supermarket, Melabúðin, next door (more or less). Which is worth exploring

This is the local swimming pool, a 15-minute walk from us. Don't miss the hotpots on the roof. Its and indoor and outdoor pool, newly renovated and very nice.

Public transport

Apart from being useful as a hub for public transport, Lækjartorg is the old main square of the old center. You will find sights to see and shopping and there is a Vínbúðin close to there. But mostly it's the local hub for public transport. You can get busses there taking you just about everywhere in the greater Reykjavík area from Lækjartorg A, B, and C - There is an app called Strætó bs free on every app store. The public transport in Reykjavík is not going to win any awards any time soon, but it can be useful and is by far the cheapest way to get around.

Wine store

In Iceland the government has monopoly on selling alcoholic beverages. They are sold exclusively in the Vínbúðin. The closest one to us is this one.
