Top notch dining in Central Montana! It is worth the drive. The Grand Union always employs an excellent world class chief, and the hotel is a beautiful place to take in the Missouri River, flowing yards from its windows. Check their schedule, as sometimes they have events with live music that may require a reservation.

A fabulous outing for a family. Below the dam is an island that you get to by a walking suspension bridge. The island has ample space for picnicking, frisbee, etc, and large shade trees. The last time we were there, the falls were spectacular, and we got close up to two bald eagle babies high in a cottonwood tree.

Not only is this the home of Charlie Russell, but you will see some of the best western art by many many painters and sculptors. There is a terrific display of Plains Indian artifacts as well as a life size bison and horse (this is so lifelike, my 5 year old refuses to go near it!).
