Sightseeing/Attractions
There is plenty to see and do in our area. Some experiences are seasonal, so don’t hesitate to reach out for specific recommendations for the time of your stay.
(11 min) This is one of our favorite hidden gems in our area. If you’re looking for a great view, without an extensive hike, this is it. Once you park, the waterfalls are right there. You can also keep walking along the Mattabassett trail for a longer hike.
*** In the winter they install concrete slabs at the base of the hill. Just park in front of those, and walk 1/4 mile up the hill to the blue trail marker.

(11 min) This is one of our favorite hidden gems in our area. If you’re looking for a great view, without an extensive hike, this is it. Once you park, the waterfalls are right there. You can also keep walking along the Mattabassett trail for a longer hike.

Getting here
Getting here from the NYC is possible via New Haven Line with a transfer to Waterbury. We’re a 20 minute Uber from the train station. You will need to Uber to get around, as our area is rural.

Buttermilk Falls is on top of our favorite local attractions. It’s a short hike. If you can fit it in, I would. You can park in the two spots by the falls, or the upper parking. In the winter, they install concrete slabs, where you can park at the base of the hill, and hike up about a quarter of a mile up the road to the blue trail marker.

We love finding local places offering Groupons for experiences and services. We’ve been lucky to find cool places via Groupon, that we would’ve otherwise missed. The distillery has one, and so do some local massage spots. Try to find some before you arrive, and schedule them for the timeline of your stay!

If you’re looking to do some hikes in the area, please don’t forget good footwear. You can get by with just good sneakers, but some trails can get muddy in places, or may require ankle support.

Weather permitting, our lake is a great place to swim and Kayak. It’s a great opportunity to bring out the summer gear and enjoy the lake to its fullest. We do offer water craft, so see the listin for what is currently available!

We are so excited to partner with an incredible local private chef. Chef Aaron Lee curates an amazing dining experience in many cuisines ranging from American, Italian, Asian-inspired, comfort food and everything in between. The cost is $75/person. Do not hesitate to reach out to us ahead of your stay, and we will do our best to coordinate arrangements for a private dinner with him!

We do have plenty of fish at the lake, so be sure to pack a fishing pole. We do not provide any, but please feel free to bring a pole and enjoy the many types of fish that we have at the lake.
