When the winds unexpectedly shifted on July 6, 1994, a wildfire on Storm King Mountain trapped and killed 14 young wildland firefighters. This trail is a memorial to those brave men and women who fought the blaze. Plaques and memorials line the trail explaining the events. Crosses symbolize where each firefighter fell. Educational & difficult, but worth the journey.
If you can't make the hike, the trailhead is lined with memorials that will leave an everlasting impression on you.
