Poldhu Cove is one of the most popular beaches on the Lizard Peninsula. Partly because it is less remote than many, but also because it is fantastic, sandy family beach. With car parking opposite the entrance to the beach it makes life easier for young families. TR12 7JB

Porthleven is the most southerly working port in the United Kingdom and boasts a picturesque harbour, with some interesting old buildings. The harbour faces south west into the prevailing wind and consequently the harbour construction and sea walls are massive. During winter storms, people visit the town to watch the waves crashing over the sea defences. The Ship Inn in Porthleven sits overlooking the harbour entrance of this south coast port. Built into the rocks this pub needs to be pretty sturdy to stand up to the winter weather. Porthleven annually hosts a Food Festival and has now become a very foody village with a selection of popular restaurants,' fish n chip, shops, Chinese, and mini bars and pubs serving food.
